Trading Like Cricket: Knowing When to Defend and When to Attack

Last weekend, I was watching a cricket match. The batsman at the crease wasn’t swinging at every ball. Some deliveries, he defended carefully. Others, he left completely. And then — when the bowler slipped up — boom, he smashed it for four.

That’s when it hit me:
Trading is just like batting in cricket.

If you try to hit every ball, you’ll get out quickly.
If you wait for the right one, you’ll build an innings worth remembering.

Here’s how cricket teaches us trading discipline:

1. Defend the tough balls (Protect your capital)

  • In cricket, a good batsman doesn’t try to attack every tricky delivery.

  • In trading, don’t risk big money on uncertain setups. Protect your capital and survive.

2. Leave the distractions (Ignore the noise)

  • Not every ball deserves your attention. Some you just let go.

  • Similarly, ignore random hype coins and news that don’t fit your strategy.

3. Attack only the right opportunities (Take high-quality trades)

  • When the bowler makes a mistake, that’s when you attack.

  • In trading, wait for your setup — clear trend, strong confirmation — and then go in with confidence.

💡 Quick Tip:
Before entering a trade, ask yourself: “Is this a ball to defend, leave, or attack?”
If you can’t answer, don’t swing.
